It’s been said that dying is the best career move that a musician can make, but it tends to have a harmful effect on tour revenues. Not anymore.

During Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s headline performance at the Coachella music festival in California, late rapper Tupac Shakur was resurrected as a “hologram” (actually rear-projection on a semi-transparent screen) onstage to perform with the Death Row Records duo.

Shakur, who was murdered in 1996, joined Dre and Snoop Dogg for “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.”Nate Dogg, who died in 2011 and was rumored to get the hologram treatment, showed up in a montage tribute, according to EW.com.¹ Living performers included Eminem, Wiz Khalifa and 50 Cent.

The technology behind the Shakur “performance” was provided by a British company called virtual online casino Musion, which has also provided holograms for Madonna, David Beckham, Prince Charles, Lewis Hamilton and even a live “hologram” of the CEO of Telstra, who was beamed to six locations across Australia.

Holographic Tupac has already spawned a parody Twitter account, @hologram2pac. Sample tweets include a resurrection of his rivalry with Biggie Smalls: “Hologram Biggie ain’t gonna happen. Ain’t no projector that big in the earth to project that fat mofo.”

Mark Wahlberg, action hero extraordinaire, has turned his hand to comedy once more with his role in, “Family Guy” creator Seth McFarland’s new movie “Ted”.

The movie is about about John, a grown man (Mark Wahlberg), and Ted, the adorable teddy bear his childhood wish brought to life (voiced by MacFarlane). The film tells the story of what happens after the happily-ever-after ending of most family-friendly fairy tales when Ted gets between John and his girlfriend (Mila Kunis).

The red-band trailer hit the Internet on Sunday and shows scenes of pot smoking, profane dating advice and some dubious singing about thunderstorms and farts in John’s bed.

Seth McFarland recently spoke to the Huffington Post about his newest movie at the SXSW conference.

He said “One of the great things when we finally got [the effects done], was that Mark was so good and so convincing. When we finally put the bear in, it felt so organic and so real. It would sink or swim on whether you believe these two guys were together.”

So far (at least in this office) it’s swimming. This signature cheeky comedy looks like it’ll do well with summer crowd.

“Ted” will be released in the US on 13th July.

Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun has won the NL Most Valuable Player Award after helping lead the Brewers to their first division title in nearly 30 years.

Braun earned the MVP on Tuesday, receiving 20 of 32 first-place votes and 388 points in voting announced by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

Los Angeles center fielder Matt Kemp, who came close to winning the Triple Crown, received 10 first-place votes and finished with 332 points. Braun’s teammate Prince Fielder finished third with 229 points, and Arizona’s Justin Upton finished fourth with 214 points.

Braun led the NL with a .597 slugging percentage and was second with a .332 batting average. He had 33 homers, 111 RBIs and stole 33 bases.

Kemp led the NL in homers, RBIs and was third in average.

The Light Cycle.

This is the illuminated, street-legal motorcycle inspired by the computer animated cycle from the 2010 film Tron: Legacy. Designed for casual cruising and slow ride-bys at shows, it is made from a steel frame covered by a fiberglass cowling that replicates the sleek look of its computer-generated imagery counterpart. Electroluminescent strips built into the tire cowlings, wheel rims, and body illuminate the cycle. It is powered by a fuel-injected Suzuki 996cc, 4-stroke engine. Riders lay at a near-horizontal position astride the padded leather seat, with feet on foot pegs that control its 6-speed constant mesh manual transmission and hands on the handlebars for throttle and braking. The hubless wheels are former truck tires built up then custom-shaped to fit onto one of two counter-rotating rims spinning within each other, providing the broad-tired authenticity of the computer cycles from the movie. A chain-driven friction drum manages acceleration and braking from the handlebars. It has spring-loaded front and rigid rear suspension. Its wet sump lubrication system eliminates tubes and hoses for oil pick-up, facilitating its streamlined, minimalist design. It uses a 3 1/2-gallon main fuel tank and 1 1/4-gallon reserve tank. All cycles are built to order. 8 1/2′ L x 23 1/4″ W x 28 1/2″ H. (474 lbs.)
